“I feel fine.”
I remember a time when feeling fine was good enough for me. And to be honest, so many of us walk around thinking that feeling fine about ourselves, our lives, our bodies and our health is more than enough.
And I’m here to tell you today that you have no idea how good your body is actually designed to feel.
Our bodies are so adaptable that when they operate at say 20% of what they are capable over a long period of time, they adapt, making that the new acceptable way to feel. So are you really feeling fine or have you just set yourself up to live at a lower level of health and wellness than you deserve?
Optimal health is a holistic focus with the aim of attaining the best possible health outcomes by promoting healthier behaviors and not merely the absence of disease. Optimal health looks at not just feeling fine but feeling your best, not just treating illness but preventing disease and decline.
Here are the 3 main things you can focus on to begin creating optimal health in your body and mind, as they are always connected:
You can’t always get rid of the stressors in your life, but you can become adept at managing them in a healthier, more powerful way. Focus not only on changing your environment to lower stress, but also optimizing your body and mind.
I usually recommend my clients use Ashwagandha daily. Ashwagandha is an ancient medicinal herb with multiple health benefits including reducing anxiety and stress, alleviating depression symptoms, and even boosting brain function. The calmer your body and mind, the more effectively you can manage stress, solve problems and respond rather than react.
Also look at starting a meditation practice, lowering the amount of sugar and processed foods you consume and doing low impact workouts such as yoga or pilates on a daily basis.
Optimize your Sleep:
The other factor that could be standing in the way of you experiencing optimal health is low quality sleep. Now this has nothing to do with the amount of hours but the quality of the sleep.
Quality sleep helps you stay at a healthy weight, lowers your risk for serious health problems, like diabetes and heart disease, reduces stress and improves your mood.
Start adding a supplement like Collagen to your daily routine. Collagen is quietly being show to be a potent mood relaxer, sleep promotor and productivity booster. Human studies are showing that three grams of glycine (found in one collagen) taken before bed improves the quality of your sleep.
Also look at incorporating breathwork practices, lowering sugar and caffeine intake during the day and lowering the temperature in your room at night.
Increase your Energy:
You cannot experience optimal health without steady, natural energy in your body and mind. So many people suffer from low energy and what they eat, drink and think plays such a big role in that.
Start by adding the miracle supplement Moringa to your morning smoothie or drinks. Moringa is known to increase energy in the body, it supports the liver which is your energy powerhouse, it supports your digestive system as well as your immune system, strengthens bones and much more.
Also increase your water intake, lessen the amount of sugar and processed foods (yes, it came up again because they drain your natural energy in the body), have a gratitude practice, eat more fresh fruits and vegetables in their raw ‘living’ form and get out into nature as early in the day as possible.
Having these 3 areas of your life in balance will put you on the road to optimal health. And soon, you’ll be feeling more than just fine. You’ll be proclaiming to everyone you know just how amazing you are capable of feeling.
